This week’s selection is “The ABC’s of 3D Printing” by Hannah Flint.
This is an introductory book for 3D printing, but it’s very different from the typical starter book on the technology: this one is specifically designed for children. I don’t believe I’ve seen a 3D printing book targeting children as young as only three.
It’s written in an “ABC” format. Each letter of the Latin alphabet corresponds to a topic. For example, “A” is for Additive Manufacturing, while “Z” is for Z-axis.
The letters and explanations work the young reader through some of the basic concepts of 3D printing technology.
You shouldn’t expect your three-year old to become a 3D printing expert as a result of reading this book. Instead, expect to have them aware of the technology and just perhaps gain a lifelong curiosity about it.
That curiosity might manifest itself later in life, perhaps in University where their career direction is determined.
If you have very young children and want to get them involved in 3D printing, this book might be a good place to begin.
