The fifth edition of the 3D Pioneers Challenge is welcoming innovative designs in this international competition.
Last year’s boundary-pushing challenge saw some of the strongest submissions yet, with the winners representing remarkable achievements in technology and design. I was on the 2019 3DPC jury, and choosing among the remarkable entries was difficult in such a wealth of accomplishment.
It’s that time again, though, and entries are open — the deadline has been extended to March 16th for entries in the following verticals: Design, Digital, Architecture, Material, FashionTech, MedTech, Mobility, Sustainability, Electronics
3DPC explains of this year’s contest focus:
“It’s the year 2020…
Visions of the future sketched our present age as an impressive time in which technical achievements and intelligent objects support people, interact with their surroundings and enrich the world.
Today, 3D printing, material innovations, artificial intelligence and robotics have long since become a decisive focus of science, industry and society. Products are virtually developed and simulated. They receive an astonishing new aesthetic and efficiency in their performance.
The latest developments e.g. in bioprinting, 3D printed electronics through to soft robotics or large-size construction are inspiring. Moreover pioneers are researching nanomaterials or designing shape-changing products, creating smart 4D printing.
In the sustainable and industrial design of tomorrow, interdisciplinary action and creative lateral thinking are the keys to innovation- Advanced Manufacturing.”
Once again, the prizes are substantial. Overall they include, per 3DPC:
-
Prize money 35.000 Euro kindly supported by the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society Thuringia.
-
Exhibition of the finalists at Rapid.Tech 3D, Trade Show Erfurt, Germany (5 –7 May 2020)
-
Award ceremony at gala evening in Erfurt at Rapid.Tech 3D
-
One year Roadshow at international events
Also awarded will be the best student project (winning the MakerBot Replicator+ 3D printer) and an award from Autodesk to join the Autodesk Technology Centers Residency program in North America. Additional prizes include Netfabb and Fusion 360 licenses, 3D Hubs’ 3D Printing Handbook, and more.
Finalists’ entries will be exhibited in May at the Rapid.Tech 3D event in Erfurt, Germany, with awards taking place during a gala evening that week.
The 2020 jury comprises 21 esteemed professionals working in various sectors of industry, economics, and education.
