We just bumped into this fascinating video which takes us briefly through the entire lifecycle of a 3D print process. In this case, the goal is a to produce a small pile of wrenches.
- A wrench is designed on a CAD system
- The CAD model is sent to the printer
- The printer produces the objects (several in this print run)
- Excess support material is removed with a chemical bath
If you need a video to explain 3D printing to unbelievers, this would be a good one to point them to.

What type of 3D printer is this. It looks like the typical Stratasys wrenches, but I didn’t think they need a chemical bath to dissolve the supports.
