Dassault Systèmes has a new offering: SOLIDWORKS Ultimate.

The company’s SOLIDWORKS tools are among the most powerful CAD solutions on the market. Years ago the company realized that making a CAD model was just one small part of the much larger journey from idea to manufacturing. To address that need, they’ve been adding a series of associated tools to help optimize the workflow.

Now they’ve organized a new bundle they call “SOLIDWORKS Ultimate”, which intends on hitting most of the functions companies typically need to traverse that journey. It’s an extension to their previous SOLIDWORKS Premium product. They explain:

“Building on the tools and capabilities included with SOLIDWORKS Premium, SOLIDWORKS Ultimate adds specialized design tools in the cloud, product release and structure management, immersive tools in the cloud for documentation and marketing content, manufacturing, and on-demand learning experiences, helping you streamline workflows, accelerate time to market, and ensure successful product launches.”

Added features include:

  • Project and Resource Management based in the SOLIDWORKS cloud. This allows participants to work together on project plans, designs and much more.
  • Lean Teamwork, which is a way to make projects more efficient by helping solve problems, create meeting spaces and access designs in progress.
  • Release Management to develop custom processes to release versions of the design and monitor project progress.
  • Project Structure Management, where the entire project can be viewed in a single context, such as an electronic bill of materials.
  • Cloud-based 3D Design and Modeling, which can even be done from a web browser without the need for high-end desktop PC hardware.
  • CNC Programming for developing toolpaths to manufacture the design on a variety of digital equipment.

SOLIDWORKS Ultimate is said to be priced at an attractive level:

“This all-in-one design-to-manufacturing offering provides enterprises with all the tools they need to design and deliver innovative, cutting-edge products at a fraction of the cost.”

By this Dassault Systèmes likely means that SOLIDWORKS Ultimate would be less expensive than acquiring the various tools separately. If a company is all-in on SOLIDWORKS, then this new offer might be quite attractive.
