IMTS has concluded for 2024, but the information obtained by attendees will serve them well.

The conference, held every two years, wrapped up a couple of weeks ago in Chicago at McCormick Place, where the event has taken place in recent years. This facility is one of the largest in North America, and its central location and size makes it a natural site for IMTS, itself the largest manufacturing trade show on the continent.

How big is IMTS? This year the event took up no less than 1.2 million square feet of exhibition space, with over 1700 exhibitors. Attending were just over 89,000 attendees from 110 countries, making this one of the most diverse gatherings of manufacturing expertise ever. Most international attendees came from Canada, Mexico, Taiwan and Japan. In fact, IMTS reported that the event had the highest number of females attendees in the history of the event.

Of great importance were the student attendees, of which there were almost 15,000. These students were exposed to a range of equipment, materials and services from several industries, and learned a great deal. Attending a conference like IMTS provides them with a better understanding of the manufacturing world we hope they will enter in their future careers.

In addition to the exhibits from a wide variety of suppliers, the event also featured over 85 main stage speakers and over 50 live events, many hosted by IMTS’ Marley Kayden.

Chief Experience Officer for Association of Manufacturing Technology, Peter Edelman, said:

“We are about to wrap up IMTS 2024 and two words come to mind: one is ‘excitement’ the second is ‘connections’. We’ve spent the last week connecting our entire industry together, and really feeling the excitement of what this growing industry is about to be embarking on for the next two years. We wanted to thank each and everyone of you for attending IMTS and really being our supporters.”

The event was also a success for AMT, the producers of IMTS, as they revealed they had gained a whopping 3,000 new followers as a result of the event.

IMTS is so large it’s held only every two years, and the next event is scheduled for September 14-19, 2026. Where will it be? Once again they’re based at Chicago’s massive McCormick Place.

AMT is already accepting bookings for space at this event, and if you’re a supplier of manufacturing equipment you might consider applying as soon as possible.
