Effortless Custom Dice Creation with DiceMaker: A Free Generative 3D Tool

A free software tool offers generative 3D models of gaming dice.

“DiceMaker”, made by Igor Sapijaszko, is one of several generative apps provided for free creation of common 3D models. Desktop 3D printer operators should be aware of these because they are supreme timesavers if you happen to need the type of object they can generate.

One very useful tool is DiceMaker, which allows you to almost instantly create any type of dice you may need for gaming.

The tool is provided by a software download, as opposed to a web service, and requires a Windows platform to run. There is an experimental Linux version, but no Mac version.

It’s very easy to use. There is an “Add” button that provides the ability to create these base dice styles:

• D4 Chamfered
• D4 Crystal
• D4 Round
• D4 Teardrop
• D6
• D6 Rhombic
• D8
• D10
• D12
• D12 Rhombic
• D20
• D100

You can customize the faces on the dice from a selection of options.

There is also the possibility of adding support “fins” that can be of importance when using resin 3D printers to print the generated dice. Sometimes it is challenging to get proper sides when resin printing, and these fins can add support that ensures the sides are correct.

When finished designing, DiceMaker provides export ability in STL format only. From there you can easily import the generated files into your slicer and print out the object.
