Montreal-based AON3D launched their most powerful industrial 3D printer yet, the AON-M2 2020.
AON3D has been producing powerful 3D printers for a few years now, and recently their focus has been on the ability to handle high temperature materials. These materials are sought by engineers and designers due to their stronger physical properties and thus usable as not only prototypes but actual end-use parts.
But a high temperature ability doesnât just mean cranking up the energy levels on the 3D printerâs heaters. High heat levels causes all kinds of issues that affect 3D print quality, and thatâs the name of the game here: if you cannot produce high quality parts, then it doesnât matter if your equipment is âhigh temperatureâ.
It seems, though, that AON3D has taken a number of steps to ensure the parts coming out of the new AON-M2 2020 are of the highest calibre.
They say theyâve done the following in the new device:
-
All stainless-steel frame to minimize thermal expansion
-
Heater redesign to ensure precise control
-
Ability to heat chamber to operating temperature in only 15 minutes
-
Higher chamber temperatures up to 135C
-
Higher bed temperatures up to 200C
-
Higher nozzle temperatures up to 470C
These measures are quite important because the AON-M2 2020âs build volume is quite large at 454 x 454 x 640 mm. Thermal effects are often amplified by larger parts as the warps and stretches can be carried through longer dimensions.
But it appears that AON3D has overcome these challenges as the 3D printed parts emerging from the new AON-M2 2020 seem to be of excellent quality.
You might be wondering about the materials used in the AON-M2 2020, and I can tell you the machine is purposely designed as an âopen materialsâ device able to handle any material you wish to put into it. However, âanyâ material will require some thought and experimentation with 3D printing parameters to ensure proper quality output.
AON3D has worked with several notable providers of high temperature 3D printer materials to avoid this issue. Their work with Solvay, SABIC, Kimya, DSM, Infinite Material Solutions and âmany othersâ has resulted in a wide set of 3D print parameters that can ensure quality results without much or any testing.
The new AON-M2 2020 is available now and is shipping.
