AMT Expands to US Market

UK-based Additive Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) is expanding operations to the North American market.

North America is a promising, massive market for additive manufacturing and is proving a popular locale for expansion among global companies. Establishing, expanding, and supporting operations targeting this market represents a major step forward for many enterprises based on other continents, and AMT sees the announced expansion as a strategic benefit.

“The expansion to Austin, TX is a great milestone as it positions AMT in a strategic location to deploy service and technical support to the Americas. Strategically this increases AMT’s ability to quickly react and adapt to market demands. We are now actively and closely tracking the pulse of the hottest 3D printing market,” AMT CEO and Co-Founder Joseph Crabtree tells Fabbaloo.

AMT, based in Sheffield, is adding the new Texas facility to its existing demo facilities in the Midwest, as well as service and manufacturing facilities in Hungary.

Luis Folgar will be leading the new operations as Executive Vice President for the Americas.

Folgar’s background includes work with Nike, Paramount Industries (3D Systems), and AMUG, as well as holding several patents in materials, design, manufacturing process, and — notably — novel advanced post-processing technologies in 3D printing.

Finding the right fit for a global expansion is critical to ensuring the success of a new business arm, and Folgar’s integration into the executive team at AMT seems set to position them well in this market. AMT notes that Folgar will “lead operations and direct the company’s technical support and strategic business development functions based out of Austin, TX.”

For his part, Folgar expresses the enthusiasm one hopes to see in a new executive addition, noting in a statement:
