This week’s selection is the very practical Improved Banana Slicer, by Thingiverse user Todd Blatt.

What does it do? Well, just take a look at the image and you’ll get the idea. Practical and it involves food, so how could you go wrong?

The design is “Improved” over the Hutzler 571 Banana Slicer available on Amazon. How is it improved? We’ll let Blatt describe the upgraded features:

I was so frustrated this morning when preparing my cereal. I could not slice my left handed banana with my right handed Hutzler 571 Banana Slicer. With the magic of 3d printing, now we won’t have to suffer from having mismatched slicers and bananas anymore.

If you check out the Amazon version, be sure to read the customer reviews, as they offer sage advice on this product.

One caution: a 3D printed version of the banana slicer may not actually be food safe, as food bits may penetrate between layers and cause bad things to happen.

There’s not much more to say, other than to follow the instructions:

YOU HAVE TO PEEL THE BANANA FIRST OR ELSE IT WILL NOT WORK!!!!
