FormFutura announced a new line of 3D printer filaments that could prove very useful to personal 3D printer operators.
The new line is called “EasyFil HIPS”. It’s High Impact Polystyrene, which has been used before. That’s not news. What is news is the particular formulation developed by FormFutura. Their EasyFil HIPS provides these benefits:
- Softer and more flexible than standard HIPS
- Very limited warping, making printing more reliable
- “excellent thermal stability and 3D print flowing behaviour”
- No toxic or hazardous chemicals
They’re starting by offering EasyFil HIPS in five colors: Black, White, Red, Blue and Grey, although they expect to have ten colors available in the near future. Both 1.75mm and 2.85mm filament diameters are offered on the 750g spools. Pricing is set at €29 (USD$35), so this material is not overly expensive.
EasyFil HIP has been tested on numerous personal 3D printers, including all popular models that accept generic filament. For those looking for an alternative to ABS or PLA, this might be a good option.
