Earlier today we wrote on the ill-fated Tiko 3D project, which went into “hibernation” yesterday. Now we find that M3D wants to help.
M3D is a company that was successfully launched via a crowdfunding campaign in 2014, raising enough cash to not only build and deliver their then-lowest cost desktop 3D printer, but also enough to continue developing their technology and ultimately launch and deliver a second, more powerful unit that we examined recently.
That’s how it’s supposed to work. Launching a 3D printer company from scratch via crowdfunding is very challenging, and even more so these days as there is tremendous competition, often from low-cost Asian manufacturers.
But M3D seems to know how to do this, as they have done it – not just once, but twice! As a result, I suspect they are watching the Tiko 3D situation with great interest – and perhaps some sympathy.
Today we’ve learned that that sympathy goes beyond mere feelings and has manifested itself in an actual offer. CEO Michael Armani explains:
