Looking for a small, yet powerful professional high-resolution desktop 3D printer? Look no further than the Nyomo “Minny”.
The company’s professional offering, the “Manny” is a small, ultra-high resolution resin-based 3D printer very suitable for various types of professional uses, but I suspect the dental and jewelry industries would have the most interest.
The machine’s key specifications are:
- Small build volume of 44 x 28 x 70mm, suitable for high-resolution dental or jewelry applications
- XY resolution of 0.034mm; 0.010mm layers
- Ten different proprietary materials offered
- Networkable through WiFi, USB and Ethernet
- Color touch control panel
- DLP-based photopolymer system for rapid printing
How small is this machine? Here’s a picture of the open machine with a coffee cup.
The accuracy of this machine is very good as you can see in these examples.
The Minny comes with specialized software to prepare 3D models for printing, UNYQ. This video shows a bit about how it works.
What’s interesting is that the software permits the design of no less than seven types of support structures. This is quite different from most slicing programs, which have only one single style for support. Here with UNYQ you can select the support style(s) that best match your object’s geometry.
Unlike some other professional 3D printers, the Minny requires the use of proprietary resin cartridges to operate. However, they are quite small due to the small prints that are generated by this device and cost only about USD$55 each. That 40g cartridge is good for approximately 30-40 prints.
The price of the machine is around USD$5,000 and is available now.
