Yes, there are far more 3D printer brands and models than you can possible keep track of, but I thought I’d bring this one to your attention: the BIBO2.
The BIBO2 is made by Shaoxing Bibo Automatic Equipment Co., Ltd., a company located in Shaoxing, China. While you may not have heard of them, they have apparently won several awards for quality and design – and they make some very interesting 3D printers.
The BIBO2 at first glance appears to be but one more of the countless Makerbot Replicator derivatives that have emerged since 2011, with its open style and small control panel. But behind the humble exterior are a wealth of fascinating features.
It is, of course, a 3D printer. But it’s also a laser engraver, too, permitting the ability to engrave on wood or perhaps even cut paper and cardboard. Not every 3D printer has such an extra feature, and those that do often cost far more than this machine.
But that’s not all! The BIBO2 has a number of very interesting 3D printing features as well, including:
Power cut restart: the printer will automatically resume printing correctly if power is cut abruptly. I wish every machine had this feature!
Filament detection: If the filament spool runs out during printing, the machine automatically pauses for you to load in a fresh spool.
Integrated WiFi and WebCam: The included networking feature permits you to control the print remotely via a webpage. You can also watch the progress of the print, too.
Removable Glass Bed: This permits totally smooth-bottomed prints and is highly reliable for sticking certain plastic types down during printing.
“Huge” Color Touch Screen: In apparently more than 10 languages, you can easily control machine operations.
Removable Covers: These capture heat to increase the reliability of the prints. The dual extruders can use not only ABS and PLA, but also TPU, PVA, HIPS, Nylon, PETG, POM and composite filaments.
Upgraded Axes: The main cartesian axes have been upgraded to 8mm rods from 5mm, making them far more sturdy and less subject to vibration.
That’s a lot of features, wouldn’t you agree? But this is the best part: the price of this machine is only USD$899 to USD$1,147, depending on how many you buy at AliExpress. Incredible pricing for such a capable machine.
You may not be the type to purchase a machine from a faraway company such as Shaoxing Bibo Automatic Equipment Co., Ltd., but when they put together a package like this, it deserves some consideration.
