3D printer manufacturer BEEVERYCREATIVE has launched a new 3D print service, BEEPOINT.
The service is intended to create âa 3D printing service point in every electronics retailer and traditional printing store, offering access to 3D printing technology to everyone all over the countryâ, according to their press release.
The service begins in northern Portugal, where theyâre soon opening up a âBEEPOINTâ at the RepairStore in El Corte InglĂ©s de Gaia. Another is to open shortly thereafter. The plan is to offer BEEPOINTs in any country where their BEETHEFIRST 3D printer is offered. Right now, that means: Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and of course, Portugal, where BEEVERYCREATIVE is based. The printer is also sold by distributors in: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. We suspect the BEEPOINT service could activate in those regions as well.
There are few technical details of the service, but we surmise it entails installation of one or more BEETHEFIRSTs in a participating location, with promotional materials, pricing schedules and methods, training for staff and commissions to the store site.
Itâs an interesting model because it could be a way to quickly generate sales – an electronics shop offered the chance for some commissions and a very cool 3D printer onsite could be irresistible. There are a great many places where BEEPOINT could appropriately be installed, even in the relatively short list of small countries above.
If the service succeeds, it could eventually grow to a large network of local 3D printshops that could rival some of the currently leading networks such as 3D Hubs or makexyz.
