Google’s Made with Code site took a step into the world of 3D printing with a simple bracelet generator.
Made with Code is a USD$50M campaign to inspire girls to get into computer programming. The site includes a number of simple, introductory programs using the web-based Blockly visual programming editor.
One of the programs is a very simple bracelet generator, in which you can specify color, size and a text message to include on your personalized bracelet. It’s quite easy to use as the program uses the Blockly drag and drop approach to specify bracelet parameters. Once your design is complete, you can grab a 2D image of it or send it to Shapeways for 3D printing. Unfortunately, you cannot download the 3D model for 3D printing yourself.
Yes, it’s a really simple generator that doesn’t have a lot of options, but that’s not the point. The point is to inspire girls to become programmers and change the world.
