Win an Objet 3D Printer

There seems to be a great many 3D printing contests lately, often offering a prize of “your object being 3D printed”. Some even offer a personal 3D printer as a grand prize. But the prize in Instructable’s “Make it Real” contest is a little different. Say, USD$50,000 different: they’re offering a complete Objet 30 3D printer with a six month supply of consumables! Secondary prizes include Up! personal 3D Printers and 3D prints.

What must you do to challenge for this incredible prize? Here’s the rundown:

To enter, post an Instructable that shows how to turn a virtual item into a tangible object. Examples include: 3D printed objects, laser-cut files, and even printed decals using an inkjet printer. So long as something in your project was designed using a computer and turned into a physical object, you are eligible to enter.

That’s a fairly wide open, so lots of possibilities exist for creative readers to get down to it. The entries are judged by a “panel of staff and respected community members”, but may be influenced by member voting, too.

The “Instructable” is a very complete set of step-by-step instructions to produce an item. Check out Instructables to see examples of what they’re looking for. The contest closes at midnight on April 30.
