Techshop is a California-based chain of public machine workshops. They provide access to equipment that otherwise would be impossible for home-based hobbyists. Among the specialized equipment they offer is a Dimension 3D Printer. Here’s their own overview:
The TechShop workshop provides a wide variety of machinery and tools for the open and unlimited use of its members, including milling machines and lathes, welding stations and plasma cutters, sheet metal working equipment, drill presses and band saws, industrial sewing machines, hand tools, plastic working equipment, electronics design and fabrication facilities, tubing and metal bending machines, electrical supplies and tools, and pretty much everything you’d ever need to make just about anything all by yourself.
TechShop now has plans for ten locations, and I suspect as fabbing becomes more popular they will continue to expand. The proposed locations include San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Austin, Orlando and Durham, according to this press release.
