Amazon Is Selling 3D Printers

Surprise! Amazon is now selling 3D printers. The online retailing giant now offers a rather lengthy selection of 3D printer gear. 
 
Included in Amazon’s extensive portfolio are: 
 
 
The 3D Systems units, LulzBot and BotMill printers are all marked “Currently Unavailable.” While this is perfectly understandable for BotMill, which closed down some time ago, we’re not quite sure why 3D Systems’ current offerings are not yet for sale. 
 
This is significant. Consumers can now purchase their own 3D printers from Staples and now Amazon, both massive retailers with enormous reach. This transforms access to 3D printers from the world of obscure websites and companies to familiar retail brands who provide equipment to millions.
