The HYREL 3D Printer

Another KickStarter project is launching an inexpensive 3D printer. It's the HYREL 3D Printer by Daniel Hutchison of Alpharetta, Georgia.

There are so many similar crowd funded 3D printing projects up at the moment it's becoming difficult to distinguish between them. So what's different about the HYREL?

  • It's fully assembled, calibrated and tested, capable of printing right out of the box
  • Made from strong metal and other components to provide a robust frame providing a platform for reliable and speedy prints
  • Includes a heated build platform
  • Build size of either 150x150x150mm (x,y,z) or 200x200x200mm
  • Custom-designed software drivers
  • Dual extruder option
  • Quick change filament capability
  • Hot-swappable extruders
  • Color LCD operations screen
  • Precision linear rails for fast and smooth operation
  • Layer size of as small as 0.025 millimeters

And what is the cost of all this? As is customary in KickStarter projects, there are quite a number of donation levels. The interesting level is USD$1,395, where you get a usable HYREL 3D printer. There are additional higher levels where you can choose a second extruder option and/or larger build chamber.

At this point the project is well over half-way to it's goal of USD$50,000 and will likely achieve it before the fundraising expires on Monday November 5. Get it now before the prices rise after the KickStarter campaign ends!
