The Inevitable Happens: 3D Printed Sex Toys. For Free!

We've expected this for a while, and now it's actually happened. Makerlove is a new operation that provides free 3D models of various sex toys suitable for production on your personal 3D printer. 

 

Here's their mission statement: 

 

MakerLove.com provides free downloadable designs for people who have Makers (3-D printers) so that they can privately make sex toys and other embarrassing items at home.    

 

Ok, we understand that. But what exactly is available? While we are reluctant to publish pictures for fear of shocking some of our readers, you are encouraged to check out their product list, which includes such items as: 

 

• The 3Dildo
• The Hello Pussycat
• The Slender G-Spot Toy
• The Rock and Roll
• Slender Pebble Vibe

 

and of course the Freaky Freud, as seen above (which we simply cannot determine how it's used without causing serious damage.) Actually, there is a specific use for the Freud and we're sure you'll read all about it. 

 

All of the items are designed to be equipped with a miniature vibrator for additional fun. Perhaps the free models are a way for Makerlove to sell vibrators? 

 

We have a couple of thoughts. 

 

First, there is potentially a safety issue. As most readers know, typical 3D prints are not food safe, since the models are layered and porous and thus cannot be easily cleaned. It's possible similar issues may arise when using 3D prints as sex toys. Plus you'd best consider a method of ensuring all the sharp burrs are removed before use. Ouch!

 

Secondly, we're wondering if this could be the killer app for 3D printing? One can imagine much more sophisticated operations providing even more ingenious devices, sized and shaped just for you. Or maybe not.

Hi, It's Tom from MakerLove.com. Thanks for writing about us. The project is really at its beginning and it is exciting to be at the forefront of an emerging technology.

I understand the concern about the current state of the art with 3D prints. There are plenty of folks working on creating better, less porous, and more effective printing technologies. As soon as the technology catches up, our current designs will produce the smooth toys that people desire. It should be interesting.
