ZCorp Gets Harder
Monday, June 22, 2009 |
New material is now available from one of the most popular 3D printer manufacturers: ZCorp. They recently released zp150, a "premium composite build material" that can be used in their 450 and 650 3D printers. What is so interesting about this material?
- 40 percent increase in “green” strength for improved ease of use
- 40 percent increase in final strength of parts cured with Z-Bond 101
- Noticeable increase in richness of colors and brightness of whites
- 100 percent increase in strength of water-cured parts, an easy, clean process that finishes parts with a spritz of water
You can now obtain zp150 from your ZCorp reseller.

Hard? Ha! At PROTOFACTURING Our models can be literally as tough as nails. Using new Resin-X™ infiltrant in our finishing process produces parts that are mechanically tough. How tough? So durable, we printed a hammer and used it! www.protofacturing.com
We also have a hammer, the downfall to the process that to create it requires an additional step and a vacuum chamber. More labor and more capital results in high costs. 95% of models are created to be used at prototypes. The new ZP150 powder fulfills just that. It is much whiter than the previous powders and very fine. If you want a tougher part FDM, or a plated part will be the best bet. For more info you can always contact www.ems-usa.com, they can benchmark any part, any process, anywhere in the world.
